Why take part in Garage Sale Trail?
Garage Sale Trail is Australia’s biggest secondhand treasure hunt. But why should you join in? And how can you get the most out of it? Let’s dive in.
What makes this event so big?
In 2024, more than 300,000 Australians took part, selling or shopping at over 13,000 garage sales and markets across two weekends. Together, we kept more than 418 tonnes of stuff in use and out of landfill.
It’s not just the size that makes it special. With 90+ council partners and lots of media coverage around the campaign, your garage sale gets exposure you’d never achieve on your own. Think of it as a normal garage sale, but with the power of a national movement driving shoppers to your door.
How can I make my sale red hot?
Like anything, first impressions count. A catchy name and a bit of character can help your sale shine. Think of our website as like a dating app - but for garage sales and pre-loved stuff.
👉🏽 Highlight what makes your sale unique. Special guests, live music, a sausage sizzle, or giveaways - these are the kinds of things that make people “swipe right” on your listing.
👉🏽 Keep your listing up-to-date. You can edit your sale any time if things change.
👉🏽 Add photos of what you're selling, picking the top 3-5 items only to showcase.
